Indium compounds give a blue-violet flame test. The atomic emission responsible for this blue-violet color has a wavelength of 451 nm. Obtain the energy of a single photon of this wavelength. [Pg.290]

The synthesis and characterization of the monomeric amidinato-indium(I) and thallium(I) complexes [Bu C(NAr)2]M[But(NAr(NHAr)] (M = In, Tl Ar = 2,6-Pr2CgH3) have been reported. Both compounds were isolated as pale yellow crystals in 72-74% yield. These complexes, in which the metal center is chelated by the amidinate ligand in an N, j -arene-fashion (Scheme 33), can be considered as isomers of four-membered Group 13 metal(I) carbene analogs. Theoretical studies have compared the relative energies of both isomeric forms of a model compound, In[HC(NPh)2]. ... [Pg.210]

Extended Hiickel molecular-orbital (EHMO) calculations using structural parameters from the X-ray determination of Cp(CO)3Mo 3In (Fig. 29) and ideal symmetry Cih were carried out for this compound in order to investigate the extent of the indium-molybdenum ir-bonding.122 The HOMO of the compound is the 3e molecular orbital, which is In—Mo [Pg.54]

Indium antimonide (InSb) forms crystals with the zinc blende structure (similar to diamond). These crystals are semiconductors. Describe the bonding in a crystal of InSb, and draw an orbital energy-level diagram for the compound. Atomic orbitals for Sb are lower in energy than those for In. [Pg.105]

Indium(III)-selenide exhibits a complex hexagonal structure making it possible for ions to diffuse in and alter the physical properties without substantially altering the host structure [139]. Thus, the compound can be employed as a cathode in microbatteries and as a solid solution electrode in microcapacitors.[139] Indium selenide, IniSe.i, is also a promising candidate for solar energy conversion [139]. The compound can be prepared by the CVD of In(SePh)3 at 550°C [138]. [Pg.380]
