Fig. 41). Changes in emission legislation and in automotive emission control catalyst technology therefore might affect both the supply and the price of platinum, palladium and especially rhodium (Table 12). 

Control and reduction of emissions of acidifying pollutants have been legislated in United States, Canada and in some European nations. When these reductions are affected, a reduction of about 60,000 in the number of acidified lakes is expected to be achieved in Canada. However, many highly sensitive lakes will be expected to remain acidified. 

With the above legislation in mind it is possible to list some industries which will be affected by tight controls on metal emissions (see Table 14.3).
