Emergency instructions monitoring

Patients with incomplete responses should contact their health care provider immediately for instructions, while those with a poor response should proceed directly to the emergency department.1 In the emergency department, baseline PEF measurements and oxygen saturation should be monitored. PEF should be monitored before and 15 to 20 minutes after bronchodilator administration. Treatment should be initiated as soon as lung function is assessed (Fig. 11-3). Dosages for emergency department and hospital use of quick relief medications are shown in Table 11-5. 

Instruction signs should be posted at all emergency systems in which the operation of the unit is not inherently obvious (i.e., fire pump startup, fixed foam systems, etc.). Flow arrows of water flow should be provide on piping where the isolation means is provided. Number of hydrants, monitors, pumps, foam chambers can all enhance the operational use of such equipment. Control panel labels should be provided which are descriptive instead of just numerical identifications. 

Written instructions in case of an adverse reaction usually require that the patient be directed to an emergency room for evaluation, monitoring, and treatment. Nonspecific treatment of a hypertensive crisis is as follows ... 

Leptospirosis medical instruction cards must be issued to all workers. The atmosphere will be monitored before entry and continuously during work. A top man, who is trained in emergency procedures, must be present outside at all times. All workers must be trained in emergency procedures. No work will continue if the monitoring alarm operates. 

As with other emergency situation, communication and early warning is key. Monitor weather conditions and notify employees promptly. Follow instructions and guidance from the local authorities.
