Interfaces between IT systems of enterprises involving all partners must be installed for coordinated communication with each other (Balling, 1998). By using standardised messages in the frame of Electronic Data Interchange for Administration Commerce and Trade (EDIFACT), bilateral adjustments become redundant (Hansen and Neumann, 2002). Therefore, cost can be saved and new cooperative partners can be won.
