Electrogenerated chemiluminescence probes

Electrogenerated chemiluminescence (ECL) has proved to be useful for analytical applications including organic analysis, ECL-based immunosensors, DNA probe assays, and enzymatic biosensors. In the last few years, the electrochemistry and ECL of compound semiconductor nanocrystallites have attracted much attention due to their potential applications in analytical chemistry (ECL sensors). 

In a series of important papers, Bard and co-workers have presented a report of their techniques for studying electrogenerated chemiluminescence and the results they have obtained.809-811 The effect of a magnetic field on a number of systems (pyrene, rubrene, 1,2-benzanthracene, pyrene-ATSW N -tetramethy 1-p-phenylenediamine, and 9-methylanthracene-tri-p-tolylamine) has helped to probe the intermediates in the generation of chemiluminescence.
