Electro-optic shutters

An electro-optic shutter within the cavity ) in addition to the normal 0-switching produces even shorter light pulses by truncating both edges of the pulse. [Pg.11]

There is another way to obtain giant laser pulses of a few ns duration, known as active Q-switching. The shutter is an electro-optical cell which is triggered at some preset time after the pump flash. These electro-optical shutters are Kerr cells or Pockels cells. [Pg.227]

Let us quote the text from Ref. [15] "...a, Quantum eraser configuration in which electro-optic shutters separate microwave photons in two cavities from the thin-film semiconductor (detector wall) which absorbs microwave photons and acts as a photodetector, b, Density of particles on the screen depending upon whether a photocount is observed in the detector wall ( yes ) or not ( no ), demonstrating that correlations between event on the screen and the eraser photocount are necessary to retrieve the interference pattern."... [Pg.96]

Application optical modulator, polarizing device, electro-optical shutter... [Pg.164]

Fig. 9. A versatile set-up to detect photon echoes in an optical fiber at low temperatures. The pulsed dye lasers can be used independently or in a master-slave configuration. Dye laser 1 used in conjunction with the optical delay line can generate a ir/2 - ir sequence or dye lasers 1 and 2 can be triggered to produce the proper pulse train. Combination of the above allows one to observe stimulated echoes echoes remain trapped in fiber for detection. In the above BS, beam splitter A, attenuator E.O., electro-optical shutter and T, are synchronizing triggers. After Broer et al. (1986). Fig. 9. Ferroelectric liquid crystal displays have potential as very fast displays and also do not require active matrix addressing technology. Due to their fast response times, they also have potential applications as high-speed electro-optical shutters or spatial light modulators. However, due to fabrication... [Pg.264]
