The Electricity Safety, Quality and Continuity Regulations 2002 (formerly Electricity Supply Regulations 1989)... 

Tbe Electricity Safety, Quality and Continuity Regulations 2002 are issued by the Department of Trade and Industry. They are statutory regulations which are enforceable by the laws of the land. They are designed to ensure a proper and safe supply of electrical energy up to the consumer s terminals. 

As previously noted, the draft Electricity Safety, Quality and Continuity Regulations were distributed for comment in February 2001. They are likely to be promulgated in the middle of 2002, and the following describes the main requirements and the principal changes from the 1988 Regulations as deduced from the consultation documents. 

For new electrical Installations or for significant alterations to existing ones, the Electricity Safety Quality and Continuity Regulations require the electricity distributor to install the cut-out and meter in a safe location where they can...
