Elastomer slider

Mixtures of polar polymers, such as PVC, PC, PMMA, TPU, PA, PEST, PGI, SAN, or ABS could be compatibilized by incorporation of two copolymers, the first containing vinyl alcohol, the second an anhydride. For example, blends of TPU with Phenoxy, EVAl, COPO, modified cellulose, and/or polyalkylene oxide, had attractive physical, optical and barrier properties, and were melt-processable without degradation. They could be transformed into films, sheets, or bottles with good barrier properties. Blends containing PA were used for films, tubes, toys, gears, bearings, shafts, curtain sliders, door rollers, etc. The blends with elastomers were reported suitable for improved wiper blades [La Fleur et al., 1994]. [Pg.1145]

These improvement possibilities do not only apply to injection molds. In addition to mold cavities for thermoplastics, thermoset and elastomer processing, also extrusion dies, sliders and jaws, ejector systems, melt control systems, no return valves, and cooling channels are treated with success. Also with regard to the treatable mold materials the limits have been further extended in recent years. In addition to typical mold steels, nonferrous metals such as aluminum or various copper alloys can also be optimized by surface and coating technologies. [Pg.684]

G. Harpavat Yes, I would agree with Dr. Bickerman that present the analysis may not indicate an absence of air adsorption layer between the slider and the plane. The presence of an adsorption can be checked by performing an experiment in which the slider is a soft elastomer with a thermal conductivity far better than air. [Pg.220]
