Eindhoven Univ. of Technologys Esc System

Eindhoven University of Technology s Esc ( lindhoven Silicon Ilompiler) system performs scheduling and data path synthesis (EASY — indhoven Architecture Synthesis), logic synthesis, and layout synthesis. Several synthesis teclmiques have been explored.

Initially, all operations are assigned to a single control step. This step is then split due to ycles, branches, procedure calls, and when the chaining exceeds the length of the step or the area exceeds the area constraint. 

Operations are assigned to functional units as in StokSS. As this is done, the local connections from the functional unit to the buses are optimized using a simulated annealing algorithm.
