Effect of external inhibitors

Enzymes can be competitive and noncompetitive and affect the reaction rate. In certain cases, they work as a blocker, which is advantageous in medicine. On the other hand, it can significantly reduce the capacity of active enzymes. [Pg.139]

In the case of competitive enzymes, the substrate competes with the external blocker in the same active enzyme. Therefore, it depends on the adsorption capacity of active enzymes. In the opposite case, both the substrate and the external inhibitors do not compete with the same activated enzyme and the capacity of the reaction will depend on the adsorption strength in the active enzymes. [Pg.140]

Note that the kinetic models are different but can be deduced in the same manner. [Pg.140]
