There are relatively few producers of boric acid esters ia the United States. Eight domestic producers of these compounds (28) are Anderson Development Co., Akzo America, Inc., E. I. du Pont de Nemours Co., Inc., Eagle-Picher Industries, Inc., The Gas Elux Co., Morton International, Callery Chemical Co., and U.S. Borax Chemical Corp. In addition, Rhone-Poulenc Chemicals, Manchester, UK, produces commercial quantities of selected boric acid esters. [Pg.215]

The Ni-Fe battery rapidly loses its capacity and peaking-power capability with decreasing temperature. Improvements in this area have been significant, particularly in batteries using sintered iron electrodes developed by the Swedish National Development Company and Eagle-Picher Industries Inc. They are reported to perform satisfactorily down to some -20°C. ... [Pg.399]

A semicommerdal plant based on this process was built and operated for the Manhattan I oject by the Standard Oil Company of Indiana [C4]. In 1953, the U.S. Atomic Energy Commission authorized construction of a larger plant at Niagara Falls, New York, with the Hooker Electrochemical Company as operating contractor [M3]. This plant produced 460 kg/year of B at an enrichment of 92 a/o B. The plant was shut down in January 1958. Eagle Picher Industries, Inc., has been producing 6 at Quapaw, Oklahoma, by this process since 1973 and is expanding capacity to 1000 kg/year. The cost is from 5 to 15/g. [Pg.640]

Tables 33.6 to 33.8 present excerpts from the catalogs of two major silver battery manufacturers—Yardney Technical Products Inc., and Eagle-Picher Industries, Inc. They are intended as a guide only, since the design parameters can he varied to meet specific customer requirements. Many applications for the high-energy silver batteries, in fact, require special designs, which often dictate new cell case and cover designs and tooling. These then become the available models for future applications.
