Dyspepsia and heartburn

The long-term outcome of individuals with dyspepsia whose cause cannot be identified is difficult to be certain about. Between 10% and 15% of such individuals become asymptomatic on an annual basis, and overall symptoms tend to decrease with age. Alternatively, it has been noted that in control population groups, approximately 12% to 15% on an annual basis develop symptoms of dyspepsia and heartburn for which no cause can be identified. [Pg.294]
