Chapter 8 complements the previous chapter and develops the basic theory needed to understand how solid-state NMR can be utilized in membrane systems. In particular it shows that wide line NMR can be sensitive to molecular motions and that it is an appropriate tool to track membrane dynamics (membrane fiuidity, fusion) and probe average orientations of molecules embedded in membranes (membrane topology).
