Dry spinning techniques

The synthesis of water-soluble polyanihne greatly improved processability. Conducting fibers were fabricated from polyaniline-SPS complex by a dry-spinning technique, which took advantage of water-soluble products... [Pg.80]

A variation on the wet-spinning technique involves extruding into a heated gas environment. In this dry-spinning process, the temperature and composition of the gas control the extraction process. [Pg.121]

Reservoir or coaxial fibers can be produced from the glycolide/ lactide polymers (53,55). Two different methods have been investigated. Dunn (53) utilized a melt-spinning technique in which the drug was introduced during the spinning process as a suspension or solution in a suitable lumen fluid. Eenink (55) developed a dry-... [Pg.11]

Solution blends of 20-25% by weight were formed in DM Ac, with conventional dry spinning and film casting techniques used to produce blend fiber and film, respectively. Blend powders were prepared by precipitating the dope with a non-solvent (water). All materials were extensively washed in methanol or water to reduce residual solvent to less than 1 wt %. Neat resin tensile bars and plaques were compression molded from both powder and fiber. [Pg.301]

Early in the manufacture of PP, a concept was developed for dry spinning directly from the solution obtained in the polymerization operation. Had it been feasible, it would have been the realization of a chemical engineer s dream the gaseous olefin fed into one end of the equipment, and the packaged fiber, ready for shipment to a textile mill, coming out the other end. But it did not turn out that way, and today melt spinning is the accepted technique for the production of staple fibers, monofilament, and multifilament yams. To this usual method have been added the fibrillation and the slit film procedures for producing yams. [Pg.474]

The new technique of CDA sample preparation for light scattering measurements was successfully applied for industrial purposes, to develop a high-speed dry spinning process of CDA fiber 49). [Pg.22]

Nain AS et al (2009) Dry spinning based spinneret based tunable engineered parameters (STEP) technique for controlled and ahgned deposition of polymeric nanoflbers. Macromol Rapid Commun 30(16) 1406-1412... [Pg.204]

The ability of a polymer to be spun into a fiber has been considered a proof of the concept of polymer processability for many years. Wanga et al. [72] have prepared enzymatically synthesized PANI fibers. First, the water-soluble and conductive form of PANI was synthesized using SPS as template and HRP as catalyst. Later, the resulting aqueous dispersion was used to prepare fibers by using a dry-spinning method. The microstructure, mechanical properties, and electrical conductivity of these fibers were improved by traditional fiber techniques such as hot drawing. [Pg.202]
