Dry machining

Dry machines use shaft-mounted gears for proper meshing of the rotors and can compress gases free of entrained water vapor and other contaminants.

Freeze-drying machines apply a small amount of heat to a frozen food sealed in a chamber. This heat prompts the molecules in the solid to break free. But at the same time those small amounts of heat are applied, a pump sucks the air out of the chamber and lowers the pressure. The low pressure prevents the liquid phase of water from forming, so the molecules in the solid convert directly to water vapor.

Application from an organic solvent using a catalyst which promotes polymerization at normal temperature is an extremely simple operation. A suitable silicone (containing no SiH bonds) is selected and dissolved in white spirit with butyl titanate and padded or sprayed onto the material, which is then dried on any conventional drying machine, after which storage of about 48 hours at normal temperature is necessary for the polymerization to complete. The padding solution will not keep for more than 12 hours.
