Drowsiness, hypotonia, and irritability were observed in 37% of infants given corticotropin in a randomized comparison of corticotropin with vigabatrin in the treatment of infantile spasms (SEDA-22, 442 11). 

In a placebo-controlled add-on comparison of three dosages of vigabatrin (1, 3, and 6 g/day) in 174 patients with partial epilepsy, fatigue, drowsiness, and dizziness were the most common treatment-related adverse events, especially at the highest dosage (1). In a randomized open comparison of carbamazepine and vigabatrin in newly diagnosed epilepsy (6), patients randomized to vigabatrin reported less frequent drowsiness (44 versus 62%) and dizziness (7 versus 20%), and more frequent myoclonic jerks (14 versus 2%) and visual scintillae (16 versus 0%).
