Drain boards

Drain boards are widely used throughout the metal industry to capture plating solutions. Boards are suspended between process tanks and are constructed of plastic, plain or teflon-coated steel. Solutions drip on the boards and drain back into their respective processing tanks.22 27... 

Simple and inexpensive, these devices are still in place in plating operations all too rarely. The intent of a drain board is to catch drips, preventing them reaching the floor and requiring treatment as waste. Construction can be of any compatible material. Care should be taken to orient the board so as to direct drips to the correct solution (e.g., drips of process solution back to the process bath, not into the following rinse). A small dam at either end is also useful in preventing runoff. 

A new type of background electrolyte feeding has now been proposed (P5). A horizontal channel, which has a series of small holes, provides a drip of electrolyte which falls onto the folded edge of the curtain. The folded edge lies on a drain board, and while the paper is able to suck the amount of water it needs, the excess flows from the drain board into...

Inevitably long glass tubes and glassware will have to be washed the workshop should have a large sink with hot and cold water and a lead or mbber covered draining board about 1.7 m (5 ft 6 in.) in length. (This will not be necessary if such facilities are available in a nearby wash-up room.)... 

At the end of the milling process the mass is removed from the last roll with the mounted scraper. The scraper (drain board) is made of stainless steel or plastic. 

A drip pan (also called a drain board) is one of the simplest methods for dragout recovery. The drip pan is located either under the rack while in transit or between tanks, and will capture drips of process solution from racks and panels as these are transferred between tanks. Drip pans not only save chemicals and reduce rinse water requirements, they also improve housekeeping by keeping the floor dry. 

Much of the equipment for cheese making is in aluminium, such as draining boards and cheese strainers.
