Drag additive-induced

The bacterial reverse mutation test (Ames Test) investigates the ability of chemicals and drags to induce reverse (back) mutations in bacteria, which involves base pair substitutions additions and/or deletions (frameshift mutations) of one or a few DNA base pairs. The bacterial strains used in the test system have mutations in genes coding for enzymes required for the biosynthesis of the amino acids histidine (Salmonella typhimurium) and tryptophan (Escherichia coli). Emetogenic drugs may be of value in treating cases of acute poisoning but usually nausea and vomiting induced by a drag are unwanted effects occurring in addition to its therapeutic action. 

Saltation of solids occurs in the turbulent boundary layer where the wall effects on the particle motion must be accounted for. Such effects include the lift due to the imposed mean shear (Saffman lift, see 3.2.3) and particle rotation (Magnus effect, see 3.2.4), as well as an increase in drag force (Faxen effect). Removal of the melt, also discussed in Section 5.1, is made possible, in principle, by two mechanisms drag-induced flow and pressure-induced flow (Fig. 5.4). In both cases, the molten layer must be sheared, leading to viscous dissipation. The latter provides an additional, important source of thermal energy for melting, the rate of which can be controlled externally either by the velocity of the moving boundary in drag-induced melt removal or the external force applied to squeeze the solid onto the hot surface, in pressure-induced melt removal. 

Sleepy This drag or chemical agent causes the user to fall asleep. A user that is affected by this side effect is overwhelmed with a feeling of extreme sleepiness. Each hour, he must make a Fortitude save (DC 15) or fall into a deep, dreamless sleep for ld8 hours (or until the side effects wear off). Soporifics with this side effect induce a coma-like state that lasts for an additional ldlO days. 

In addition to the direct interaction with drug transporters, administration of some kinds of drugs (so-called inducers) modulates the expression of drag transporters, and thereby, affects the pharmacokinetics of other drugs one is modulating membrane trafficking of transporter protein and the other is induction/downregulation of transporter mRNA.
