For many piuposes, high speed dot-matrix print-out is satisfactory. In other cases, such a presentation may not be proper. Letter-quality printers are now available for computers at affordable prices. In addition, many newer typewriters may be hooked up to computers for high quality print-outs. These may be slower than the computer printers, but the cost of such a typewriter is...

It can be difficult to decide where exactly to cut a protein so as to cleanly excise each domain. It is not always certain that the duplications that gave rise to the domains happened by the simple duplication of entire domains. Fractions of domains or units containing the C-terminal half of one domain and the N-terminal half of an adjoining domain could, in principle, be duplicated. These pathological cases can be teased out only by close inspection and the careful use of profile analysis and dot-matrix plots (e.g., Gibson et al, 1993).

Use a laser printer (as opposed to an inkjet, dot matrix, or daisy wheel printer) to print a document you know is going to be scanned. 

This nine (3 x 3) electrode dot device comprises a four-layer printed circuit board [100,101]. The first layer has a nine-phase electrode dot matrix. The entire electrode dot matrix consists of multiple 3x3 units. Each electrode has a hole in its center for connection to the electric circuits of the layers below. These layers were connected to external terminals. Sequential voltages were applied to the three-phase electrode columns and lines. 

Print the figure on clean, opaque, white paper, using a fresh ink or toner cartridge. Do not use a dot matrix printer. Set the laser or inkjet printer to a resolution of at least 600 ppi. 

If you are printing line-art figures for subsequent scanning, always check that the toner or ink cartridge is fresh, and never use a dot-matrix printer.
