DNOC reproductive effects

We do not know whether DNOC causes reproductive effects, birth defects, or cancer in people. One animal study suggests that swallowing DNOC may decrease the number of sperm in the testes of males or cause damage to the ovaries of females. Swallowing DNOC does not appear to cause developmental effects in animals. We do not know whether DNOC causes cancer in animals. More information on the harmful effects of DNOC can be found in Chapter 2. [Pg.15]

No studies were located regarding reproductive effects in humans after oral exposure to DNOC. [Pg.47]

Reproductive Effects. DNOC was thought to have induced labor in of 3 pregnant agricultural workers who became ill after they were dermally exposed to DNOC for about eight hours (Varnai and Kote 1969). All three women gave birth to full-term healthy children. Data from a 5-day oral study in mice (Quinto et al. 1989) and 3-week and 77-182-day studies in rats (Spencer et al. 1948 Vos et al. [Pg.78]

No reliable data were located regarding reproductive or developmental effects in humans, although one study suggested that DNOC may have induced labor in a pregnant agricultural worker. However, DNOC was reported to cause aspermatogenesis and a lack of corpora lutea in rats. [Pg.71]
