Dizziness lorazepam

Pregabalin produced anxiolytic effects similar to lorazepam, alprazolam, and venlafaxine in acute trials. Sedation and dizziness were the most common adverse effects, and the dose should be tapered over 1 week upon discontinuation. 

Intramuscular lorazepam 4 mg has been compared with the combination of intramuscular haloperidol 10 mg + promethazine 50 mg in 200 emergency psychiatric patients with agitation, aggression, or violence (2). The treatments were comparably effective and well tolerated overall, but two patients who took lorazepam had moderate adverse effects one had worse bronchial asthma and one had nausea and dizziness. 

A handful of reports describe severe hypotension, respiratory depression, unconsciousness and potentiaiiy fatal respiratory arrest in patients taking benzodiazepines and ciozapine. One case of fatal respiratory arrest has been reported with lorazepam and clozapine. Dizziness and sedation are aiso increased. 

The cognitive function of 24 healthy subjects was not impaired by moxonidine 400 micrograms daily, but the presence of moxonidine was found to increase the cognitive impairment caused by lorazepam 1 mg daily. For this reason the manufacturers warn that the sedative effects of the benzodiazepines may possibly be enhanced by moxonidine. Sedation and dizziness may occur with moxonidine, which the manufacturers suggest may be additive with the effects of sedatives and hypnotics. They also advise the avoidance of alcohol. ... 

Lorazepam has been used to treat anxiety symptoms occurring in patients with neoplasm (7 ). This group of patients might be expected to be particularly vulnerable to adverse effects, but although minor side effects of dizziness, drowsiness, asthenia, and ataxia were frequently recorded, their clinical significance was considered to be negligible the side effects disappeared during the first week of treatment. 

There have been several clinical trials comparing lorazepam with diazepam or me-dazepam(13, 30, 52, 50 ). Side effects noted include drowsiness, dizziness, ataxia, weakness, gastrointestinal upset, dreams, blurred vision, sweating and heachache.
