Disiloxanes mixed

Poly(carboxyalkyl methyl siloxane) and octamethyl cyclo tetrasiloxane are mixed in a monomer ratio of 1 6, hexa methyl disiloxane is added to bring the polymerization degree of the ensuing silicone to about 60, and 6 volume percent of concentrated sulfuric acid are used as equilibration catalyst. [Pg.345]

Diphenylsiloxanes exhibit a drastically enhanced photoluminescence compared to the dimethyl-or mixed methyl-phenyl-substituted siloxanes due to the unique interaction between their n-electron systems in the substituents and the Si atom. The disiloxane group in 5, (Fig. 3c), especially, apparently constitutes a unit with particularly high photoluminescence efficiency [2]. [Pg.148]

Mixing Solutions. Nafion/Si02 membranes also can be prepared using Nafion solutions and silicon alkoxides. The mixed solution is cast into shallow containers and dried at ambient temperature. This procedure allows the incorporation of continuously increasing amounts of sihca. Since the composites are formed from a mixed solution, instead of a Nafion film, the silica phase is not restricted to the clusters ofNafion. Transparent but brittle films are obtained when TEOS is used, showing a lamellar structure by transmission electron microscopy (TEM). When part of the TEOS is substituted by 1,1,3,3-tetramethyl-l, 3-diethoxy disiloxane (TMDES), phase separation, higher flexibility and higher ionic conductivity are observed (Zoppi, 1997, 1998). [Pg.1505]

The catalysed addition of Me3SiX (X=C1 or Br) to / -quinones provides a regiospecific route to the preparation of halohydroquinones [equation (88)]. The relative basicities of alkoxysilanes and of silanols have been measured against Avoh for phenol, while the rate of silylation of/>-nitrophenol by bisilylacetamides decreases if MeaSi is replaced by EtaSi. The silanol Bu MeaSiOH can be silylated by bis(dimethylsilyl)acetamide or MeaSiCl to give the mixed disiloxanes. The chelate Eu(DPM)3 had a marked effect on the proton chemical shifts of the methyl substituents of the methylphenylsilanols. ... [Pg.158]
