Directing without domination

No se deduction in Kooms. Sound from a source in an enclosed room can be divided into two parts the direct field, dominated by sound radiated direcdy from a source to a receiver without reflections and the reverberant field, dominated by sound that has been reflected many times by surfaces in the room before it reaches a receiver (5). This relationship is defined by the foUowing equation ... [Pg.312]

Down slanted t-bar, to the right, with a blunt ending. The dominant person tends to be in control and likes it. He takes charge making people follow directions without angering them. [Pg.142]

Electronic structure calculations have over the years almost solely been performed using state approaches. The basic approach has been to develop better and better methods to evaluate the wavefunction and/or the energy and other properties of the individual state. To a large extent the efforts have concentrated on ground-state properties. Clearly these methods have also dominated the literature and even very recent reviews of electronic structure calculations (Schaefer, 1984) maintain the view that only state function methods have yet demonstrated their usefulness in electronic structure calculations. It is the purpose of the present review to describe a different approach, the propagator methods. In these methods we compute state energy differences, transition probabilities and response properties directly without knowing the wavefunctions of the individual states. [Pg.201]

Class C direct dyes are dyes of poor leveling power which exhaust well in the absence of salt and the only way of controlling the rate of exhaustion is by temperature control. These dyes have high neutral affinity where, resulting from the complexity of the molecules, the nonionic forces of attraction dominate. When dyeing with these dyes it is essential to start at a low temperature with no added electrolyte, and to bring the temperature up to the boil very slowly without any addition of electrolyte. Once at the bod the dyeing is continued for 45—60 min with portionwise addition of salt to complete exhaustion. [Pg.354]

One of the attractive features of SFE with CO2 as the extracting fluid is the ability to directly couple the extraction method with subsequent analytical methods (both chromatographic and spectroscopic). Various modes of on-line analyses have been reported, and include continuous monitoring of the total SFE effluent by MS [6,7], SFE-GC [8-11], SFE-HPLC [12,13], SFE-SFC [14,15] and SFE-TLC [16]. However, interfacing of SFE with other techniques is not without problems. The required purity of the CO2 for extraction depends entirely on the analytical technique used. In the off-line mode SFE takes place as a separate and isolated process to chromatography extracted solutes are trapped or collected, often in a suitable solvent for later injection on to chromatographic instrumentation. Off-line SFE is inherently simpler to perform, since only the extraction parameters need to be understood, and several analyses can be performed on a single extract. Off-line SFE still dominates over on-line determinations of additives-an... [Pg.429]

Though Hoerlein s expression was crafty, his paunchy body made the dominant impression. Limping past the others in the first row of the dock, he walked with an orderly respect for his legs, mounted the witness box without pause as if he had calculated the step many times. The Presiding Judge directed him to rise and take the oath. [Pg.130]
