Differential scanning calorimetry curve polymer

Based on the structure-related addition schemes for the thermal properties, it should, for example, be possible to quantitatively generate differential scanning calorimetry curves for polymers, copolymers and their mixtures. With easy access to the data bank, it should be possible for thermal analysts to compare their newly measured DSC curves with the computer generated standard curves for on-line analysis of macromolecules. [Pg.361]

Many different test methods can be used to study polymers and their physical changes with temperature. These studies are called thermal analysis. Two important types of thermal analysis are called differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and differential thermal analysis (DTA). DSC is a technique in which heat flow away from a polymer is measured as a function of temperature or time. In DTA the temperature difference between a reference and a sample is measured as a function of temperature or time. A typical DTA curve easily shows both Tg and T . [Pg.283]

Differential Scanning Calorimetry. A Perkin-Elmer Model DSC-IB calorimeter was used to examine crystallinity by measuring areas under the fusion curve as a function of elastomer composition and processing variables. Areas of endotherms were calibrated against an indium standard and the crystallinity calculated using a value of —138 J/g for a 100% crystalline polypropylene polymer (II). [Pg.486]
