The bioavailability of different specimens of a poorly soluble drug, when given orally and measured by the rate of the rise of plasma levels, varies enormously because of differing particle sizes. This test has revealed important differences between different brands of aspirin, diphenylhydantoin, cardiac glycosides (especially digoxin), tetracyclines, chloramphenicol, and dicumarol. The remedy is, usually supersonically micronize the drug. 

Vitamin K is fat-soluble and requires the presence of bile salts for its absorption. Impaired lipid absorption, such as develops in obstructive jaundice, sprue, and celiac disease, decreases K absorption. The effects of dicumarol in combatting thrombus formation can be reversed by intravenous vitamin K.
