Di-2-ethylhexyl sulphosuccinate

Both mono and diesters are produced. A widely used diester in many formulations is sodium di(2-ethylhexyl)sulphosuccinate (sold commercially under the trade name Aerosol OT). The diesters are soluble both in water and in many organic solvents. They are particularly useful for preparation of water-in-oil (W/O) microemulsions (Chapter 10). [Pg.7]

A surfactant widely studied in non-aqueous systems is di-2-ethylhexyl sodium sulphosuccinate (Aerosol OT) which, despite its ionic character, dissolves freely in hydrocarbon solvents. A 0.1 m solution of Aerosol OT in octane can solubilize nearly 10% water. Imidazole inside water pools is capable of... [Pg.728]
