Deuteration hydrogenation

For highly monodisperse biological structures consisting of subunit complexes (e.g.. ribosomes) it is possible to estimate the size of subunits in situ by deuterating hydrogen atoms in covalent positions (Moore, 1981). [Pg.210]

The method was applied for the determination of hydrogen contents for various organic compounds, amount of non-deuterated hydrogen compound in deuterated solvents and composition of multicomponent mixtures such as waste solvents.19... [Pg.108]

In an attempt to elucidate the mechanism of these peroxide-carbohydrate reactions, a carefril study of products, particularly of gaseous ones, from various model compoimds has been undertaken. - Thus, formaldehyde gives hydrogen, carbon dioxide, and formic acid by the steps shown in equations (5) to (8). Using deuterated hydrogen peroxide, Bonhoeffer... [Pg.154]

Numerous well-known methods exist for analyzing fimctional groups in a fatty acid chain. These methods include deuteration, hydrogenation, epoxidation, hydrox-ylation, and silylation. Ozonolysis, although strictly speaking not a derivatization because the fatty acid chain is cleaved and the cleavage products analyzed, can also... [Pg.232]

The apparatus is composed of two main parts (1) an external vessel in which the hydrogen source (for either H2 or D2) is introduced, equipped with a D2O (or H2O) injection system (2) an internal vessel containing the solvent, the hydrogenation catalyst, and the substrate to be deuterated (hydrogenated). [Pg.114]

A unique but widely studied polymeric LB system are the polyglutamates or hairy rod polymers. These polymers have a hydrophilic rod of helical polyglutamate with hydrophobic alkyl side chains. Their rigidity and amphiphilic-ity imparts order (lyotropic and thermotropic) in LB films and they take on a F-type stmcture such as that illustrated in Fig. XV-16 [182]. These LB films are useful for waveguides, photoresists, and chemical sensors. LB films of these polymers are very thermally stable, as was indicated by the lack of interdiffusion up to 414 K shown by neutron reflectivity of alternating hydrogenated and deuterated layers [183]. AFM measurements have shown that these films take on different stmctures if directly deposited onto silicon or onto LB films of cadmium arachidate [184]. [Pg.561]

Let us take two polymers (one deuterated and one hydrogenated) and dissolve them in a solvent (or another polymer) having a scattering length b. The coherent scattered intensity can be derived from (B 1.9.117), which gives... [Pg.1413]

Hydrogen exchange, in thiazole, especially deuteration, has been quantitatively investigated (379,380), but the mechanism of the reaction carried out at acidic or neutral pH corresponds to a protonation-deprotonation process (380), different from electrophilic substitution and is discussed in section I.3.E. [Pg.106]

Photolysis of Cp2TiAr2 in benzene solution yields titanocene and a variety of aryl products derived both intra- and intermolecularly (293—297). Dimethyl titan ocene photolyzed in hydrocarbons yields methane, but the hydrogen is derived from the other methyl group and from the cyclopentadienyl rings, as demonstrated by deuteration. Photolysis in the presence of diphenylacetylene yields the dimeric titanocycle (28) and a titanomethylation product [65090-11-1]. [Pg.159]

In pyridazine, base-catalyzed hydrogen-deuterium exchange takes place at positions 4 and 5 more easily than at positions 3 or 6. Deuteration of pyridazine 1-oxide in NaOD/DiO... [Pg.29]
