Determining the Conditions of Use

Because migration of any material through a plastic is affected by the temperature of exposure, and the material In direct contact with the polymer surface, one must define the conditions of use for the plastic package. The CFR has implied that all approvals are based on the Intended conditions of use and in many cases the regulations establishes specific limits on these conditions for use of a given polymer or adjuvant. 

When the categories that fit the product and the processing and storage conditions are identified, the next step is to examine the regulations that apply to the packaging material, in order to determine whether the use is acceptable or not.
