Determination of residual mineral matter in the binder extract by incineration

3 Determination of residual mineral matter in the binder extract by incineration [Pg.447]

The main apparatus used is a furnace capable of heating to 600°C. After determining the volume of the total binder solution collected free of mineral matter, a portion of the binder solution (approximately 100 x 10 mm ) is placed into the ignition disk. The amount of solvent is evaporated until the sample is dried to a constant mass. The residue is placed in the furnace at 500°C to 600°C until ash residue is obtained. [Pg.447]

After cooling, 5 x 10 mm of saturated ammonium carbonate solution is added per gram of ash. The content is left to digest at room temperature for 1 h and dried to a constant mass, and after cooling, its mass is determined to 1 mg. [Pg.447]

The mass of the mineral matter in the total volume of extract, M2, is determined by using the following equation  [Pg.447]
