Determination of partial molar entropies for individual ions

5 Determination of partial molar entropies for individual ions [Pg.547]

Note well when data on partial molar entropies are given they are usually in terms of the hydrogen ion written as H (aq). This section uses this convention so as not to be in conflict with tabulated data. In all other parts of the book, the standard procedure of writing the H+ in terms of H30 (aq) is used. [Pg.547]

The partial molar entropy of substance B in a solution relates to the dependence of the entropy of the solution on the amount of substance B in it. More precisely, it is the rate of change of S for the solution with change in amount of B present, with the change in amount of B being carried out at constant temperature, crxistant pressure and constant amount of every other substance. [Pg.547]

A5 can be found from the temperature dependence of the emf of the cell (see Worked Problem 8.11, Section 9.12.2 and Worked Problem 9.16). [Pg.547]

If other cells are used further standard partial molar entropies can be found. [Pg.547]
