Determination of the complexation capacity with salicylic acid [Pg.148]

Salicylic acid has been selected as a model substance to provide a standard method for measuring tbe complexation capacity of crospovidone. Measurement of the complex formation constant for this substance in water gave a value of 4.11. mol1 [158]. [Pg.148]

The following method measures the percentage of salicylic acid that is com-plexed by a given quantity of crospovidone. The value normally lies between 30% and 50% at 20 °C. [Pg.148]

Dissolve 13.81 g of salicylic acid in 500 ml of methanol in a 1000-ml volumetric flask and make up almost to the mark with water. After 24 hours at 23-25°C, make up exactly to the mark. [Pg.148]

Accurately weigh about 2 g of crospovidone into a conical flask (sample weight = W). [Pg.148]
