Design Code Application Rules

P(l) Depending on the character of the individual clauses, distinction is made in the EUROCOMP Design Code between Principles and Application Rules. [Pg.3]

Application Rules given in the EUROCOMP Design Code, provided that it is shown that the alternative rules accord with the relevant Principles and are at least equivalent with regard to the resistance, serviceability and durability achieved for the structure with the EUROCOMP Design Code. [Pg.4]

Pressure design of unlisted components and other piping elements to which the rules in para. IP-3.1 do not apply shall be based on calculations consistent with the design criteria of this Code. These calculations shall be substantiated by one or more of the means stated in (a) through (d) below, considering applicable dynamic, thermal, and cyclic effects in paras. IP-2.1.7 through IP-2.1.8, as well as thermal shock. Calculations and documentation showing compliance with (a), (b), (c), or (d), and (e) shall be available for the owner s approval ... [Pg.101]

The minimum temperature shown is that design minimum temperature for which the material is normally suitable without impact testing other than that required by the material specification. However, the use of a material at a design minimum temperature below -29°C (-20°F) is established by rules elsewhere in this Code, including para. GR-2.1.2(b) and other impact test requirements. For carbon steels with a letter designation in the Min. Temp, column, see para. GR-2.1.2(b)(2), and the applicable curve and Notes in... [Pg.212]

Low-pressure models applicable to the protection of process buildings and storage tanks ruled by the API codes. RUST s low-pressure model is usually successful for vent design of internal or external overpressure. [Pg.89]

Differences in design practices have in the past handicapped developments that could have reduced costs. For example, some difficulties with past design practices are evident in examining application of the ASME Code and Code Case N-47 to pool type LMFRs, such as Super Phenix. The design of Super Phenix resulted in considerably thinner components. This required different buckling rules. Super Phenix design creep effects were negligible... [Pg.230]

The application software shall be reviewed to ensure it follows the specified design, the coding rules and the requirements of safety planning. [Pg.258]

In the United States the most frequently used design rules for pressure piping are the ANSI B31 Code for Pressure Piping. This code is divided into many sections for different kinds of piping applications. Some sections are related to specific sections of the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel code as follows ... [Pg.375]

Today most layered vessels arc constructed in accordance with the ASME Code, Vni-1, Division 2. The majori of the design equations given in the code for solid wall vessels are applicable to layered vessels. For fabrication, the ASME Code, VHI-l, Division 2, gives additional rules for layered-vessel constmetion. One criterion for controlling wrapping tightness of layered shells is that the area of any gap between two adjacent layers, as measured from the end of a shell section, must not exceed the thickness of a layer expressed in square inches. This is illustrated in Fig. 15.7. [Pg.639]
