Design and simplification

The amount of solid, liquid and gas waste from the equipment and systems is reduced by a boron-free design, and simplification of the primary system helps reduce waste generated during maintenance. 

Many processes have been developed for the polymerization of olefins. They differ in both the physical state of the reactor media and in the mechanical operation of the unit. The choice of process is determined by economics, feedstock availability, catalyst, and the desired range of products to be produced. Significant improvements in catalyst design over the past years have led to improvements in process design and simplification. Modem supported catalysts are able to produce polymer with high yields and stereospecificity (for polypropylene) such that the removal of catalyst residue and atactic polymer from the resin is no longer required, see Table 2.7. 

Performability is improved with the use of digital instruments and control system design and simplification of the main control room and instrument detection system.
