Dense-packed state

Since the radii of the dendrimers increase in a linear manner as a function of G, whereas the surface cells amplify according to NCN°, it is implicit from this equation that generational reiteration of branch cells ultimately will lead to a so-called dense-packed state. 

May be used to prepared high generation (i.e. G = 0-12) dendrimers that precede and exceed the de Gennes dense packed state. 

This difference in reactivity can be understood since the transitions from the helical to the amorphous state exhibits a positive volume change, the crystalline state being the more densely packed state(4). Extra volume results in a reduction in steric hindrance to chemical reactivity and thus increased enzymatic degradation of collagen in the amorphous state compared to the crystalline state. 

Now we analyze the trends in Fig. 5 in two steps (1) the silanization procedure in toluene solution and (2) contact angle measurement in an aqueous environment and their surface energies. In the n = I case, silane molecules can bind to reactive sites on the surfaces in a densely packed state but probably patchy style, due to the three bulky methyl groups per silane molecule. 

We build a one-dimensional model system in a similar manner to the work of SHEEP [133], in which one diabatic state couples with the other densely packed states, while the couphng among the latter are neglected. The model...

Conversely, for the type I form of mxy8 stabilized upon miceUization, the N— C— C—X— C—X—N skeleton takes up an extended form, resulting in a densely packed state of n-octyl chains within the micelles. This dense packing results in high-order (crystalline) self-assembly. The molecular shape of pxy8 probably favors the formation of a densely packed aggregated state, resulting directly in crystal formation from the premicelles.
