Deck-stacks

Since the first preparation of triple-decker complexes, the possibility of constructing oligo-decker and poly-decker species [quadruple-decker (95), multiple-decked stacked compounds (55)] has received attention. At this time, few published data are available. 

Laminates aie materials made up of plies or laminae stacked up like a deck of cards and bonded together. Plywood is a common example of a laminate. It is made up of thin pHes of wood veneer bonded together with various glues. Laminates ate a form of composite material, ie, they ate constmcted from a continuous matrix and a reinforcing material (1) (see also Reinforced plastics).

The authors also evaluated the performance of various DES-T and DES cutoffs for detecting taxon members defined by Bayesian probabilities. Waller and Ross found that DES-T cutoffs work much better than the cutoffs on the DES because they have higher sensitivity, specificity, and positive and negative predictive values. One could say that the authors stacked the deck in favor of the DES-T, as the Bayesian probabilities and DES-T scores are based on the same data. However, this redundancy is unavoidable, since there is no other method of assessing taxon membership. It is important to evaluate the qualities of DES-T cutoffs for studies that will use the DES-T, rather than the Bayesian scoring scheme. 

Covalently bonded sandwiches having five or six decks 78, 79 have been constructed via the reactions of C2B3-endcapped anions with transition metal cations 78,85 the hexadeckers vary in metal composition, in the nature of the substituents on boron (X), in the number of protonated metal centers, and in the number of electrons associated with the metals. Some of these complexes are diamagnetic, but most are paramagnetic with one or two unpaired electrons, in most cases extensively delocalized over the stack as shown by ESR and electrochemical studies.85... 

The second study suffers fundamental flaws of its own. Attaran here stacks the deck by using the WHO s EML when deciding which drugs to study (the patenting frequency of). Because the WHO intentionally takes cost into account when making this list... 

In an atmospheric spray tower the air movement - is dependent on atmospheric conditions and the aspirating effect of the spray nozzles. Natural-draft cooling tower operation depends on a chimney or stack to induce air movement. Mechanical-draft cboling towers utilize fans to move ambient air through the tower. Deck-filled towers contain tiers of splash bars or decks to assist in the breakup of water drops to increase the total water surface and subsequently the evaporation rate. Spray-filled towers depend only on spray nozzles for water breakup. Coil shed towers are comprised of a combination structure of a cooling tower installed on top of a substructure that contains atmospheric section coils. Hyperbolic natural-draft cooling towers are typically large-capacity systems. 

Stacks shall extend to a height of at least four feet above the fan deck, not only to provide protection for operating personnel, but to properly direct the discharge air upward and away from the cooling tower. 

The numbers 1 through 40 are written on 40 cards, one number on each card, and stacked in a deck. The cards numbered 2, 8,12,16,24, 30, and 38 are removed from the deck. If Jodi now selects a card at random from the deck, what is the probability that the card s number is a multiple of 4 and a factor of 40 ... 

Although the geometries of the corannulene moieties in these dimers could not be obtained from NMR experiments, semiempirical MNDO molecular orbital calculations clearly favor a stacked-bowl geometry (convex face to concave face). The equivalence of the four external lithium cations is explained in terms of rapid intermolecular exchange. Moreover, the equivalence of the two corannulene units is accounted for by a rapid bowl-to-bowl inversion of both corannulene decks. The validity of this proposal was supported both theoretically71 and experimentally73. 

The chemist J. Bailer also fervently defends the Diesel version, although he plays with a stacked deck, cf. note 6.

Instead of using the Ma that is Maya the Mother, he uses Bhu that is the Sanskrit word for the Mother Earth, or perhaps he intended to employ a purer Tamil reading of the character. Then it would read as "Pu", perhaps inferring the Tamil word for flower "Poo". Whatever was his intent (that clever fellow stacked the deck with endless layers of hidden meaning) he chose to draw attention to the lower point of the triangle, draw attention to the birth of all...
