The over-all material balance, prepared for the test period on the combined operation of the thermal reformer and the polymerization unit, appears in Table II. It is based on the streams actually fed and produced. Table III shows the debutanized reformate and debutanized polymer streams separately and as a combined stream. Calculated RON values corresponded to engine values of debutanized reformate samples (25 samples) with a standard deviation of 0.55 RON units, which is close to the accuracy of engine measurements. By carrying out a number of repeated test runs, the reproducibility taken as the standard deviation for the measured reformate and hydrogen yields were determined as 0.25 and 0.02 wt%, respectively, and 0.25 units for RON. The product coming out of the reactor consists of excess hydrogen and a reformate rich in aromatics. Typically the dehydrogenation of naphthenes approaches 100%. From 0% to 70% of the paraffins are dehydrocyclized. The liquid product from the separator goes to a stabilizer where light hydrocarbons are removed and sent to a debutanizer. The debutanized platformate is then sent to a splitter where Cg and C9 aromatics are removed. The platformate splitter overhead, consisting of benzene, toluene, and nonaromatics, is then solvent extracted (46). [Pg.41]

The reformate produced in the OCR Platforming unit is sent to a debutanizer column, which strips off the light ends. The debutanizer bottoms are sent to a reformate splitter (3). The C7 fraction from the overhead of the reformate splitter is sent to a Sulfolane unit (4). The C8+ fraction from the bottom of the reformate splitter is sent to a xylene fractionation section.
