Cyclopolymerization allyl acrylate

An interesting extension of the cyclopolymerization strategy is the polymerization of allyl acrylate quaternary ammonium salts, where the resulting ester precursor of 7 is easily hydrolyzed by trifluoroacetic acid to the polybetaine [23]. Polyampholyte 8 was prepared by copolymerization with a high excess of DADMAC [24].

Thus, we investigated in detail the factors influencing intramolecular addition modes in the radical cyclopolymerization of some unconjugated dienes, including diallyl and dimethallyl dicarboxy-lates, acrylic and methacrylic anhydrides, and allyl -substituted acrylates and discussed the selectivity of reaction mode of intramolecular hh or ht addition in terms of the thermodynamical standpoint. The present article gives a summary of our recent work including published papers(18-23). 

More examples have been quoted of special growth reactions for molecules having two carbon-carbon double bonds. Cyclopolymerization occurs for diallylaminomethyl phenols, allyl esters of unsaturated acids, 2-(2-vinyl-phenoxy)ethyl methacrylate and acrylate, 2-divinylbenzene and some silicon-containing monomers. - Polymerizations of p-xylylene and its derivatives have been considered further. - The radical polymmzation of some disubstituted vinylcyclopropanes has been represented as shown in equation (2), where X and Y=CN or COjEt. The involvement of the ring must be connected with stabilization by the substituents of the product radical.
