Cyclomaltoheptaose

Cyclic oligosaccharides composed of a single type of oligosaccharide unit may be named semisystematically by citing the prefix cyclo , followed by terms indicating the type of linkage [e.g. malto for a-(l—>4)-linked glucose units], the number of units (e.g. hexa for six) and the termination -ose . The trivial names a-cyclodex-trin (a-CD) for cyclomaltohexaose, (i-cyclodextrin ((i-CD) for cyclomaltoheptaose and y-cyclodextrin (y-CD) for cyclomaltooctaose are well established. [Pg.156]

We finish this Section with enzymic conversions that are difficult to classify elsewhere Takasweet, a commercial variety of immobilized glucose-iso-merase, converts 6-O-methyl-D-fructose and 6-deoxy-D-fructose into the gluco isomers in not very satisfactory yield.34 A mixture of catalase (75 U/mmol) and glucose oxidase (80 U/mmol) oxidizes xylitol to L-xylose in 50% yield, on the 100- mol scale.106 The enzyme cyclodextrin a-(l—>4)-glucosyltransferase (1000 U immobilized on silica gel-glutaraldehyde) allows107 preparation of cyclomaltohexaose (0.3 g), cyclomaltoheptaose... [Pg.234]

For the oxidation of primary hydroxyl groups, three times the amount of nitrite is required when compared with nitrate, and three times as much of the toxic NO would be formed. This oxidation procedure has been applied to the glucans cellulose, amylose, and pullulan. A study of this system with cyclomaltoheptaose (/J-cyclodextrin) showed that the reaction is autocatalytic. [Pg.342]
