Cyclohexanone thiolate substitution

Experiments were carried out in our laboratory to find the optimal conditions for the nucleophilic displacement of chlorine from PVC suspended in water. Nucleophiles such as diethyl dlthio-carbamate, lauryl thiolate and 2-(2 -butoxyethoxy)-ethane thiol, lauryl mercaptan, n-butyl mercaptan, benzyl mercaptan and bls-.(2-mercaptoethyl)-ether were used in these experiments. The results indicated that a higher percentage of substitution occurs if a solvent for PVC such as DMF or cyclohexanone is added to the slurry.
