Powerforming is a version of the platinum reforming process. Basically there are two types of unit semi-regenerative and cyclic. The choice of unit and the exact process conditions used will depend to a large extent on the particular application. However, certain generalizations regarding each of the two types can be made. 

Silamit P3 A cyclic catalytic reforming process for making town gas from oil, similar to the UGI Process. Developed by Gaz de France and built by Silamit Indugas, Dtisseldorf, Germany. Gas Making and Natural Gas, British Petroleum Co., London, 1972, 94. 

SSC [Statione Sperimentale per i Combustibili] A cyclic catalytic reforming process for making gas from oil. Developed by SSC, Milan. 

Cyclicalbatch. Both the formula and the processing instructions are the same from batch to batch. Batch operations within processes that are primarily continuous often fall into this category. The catalyst regenerator within a reformer unit is a cyclical batch process.

In particular, the ability of ZSM-5 to cleave imbranched and monomethyl-branched alkanes with retention of more highly branched and cyclic isomers is exploited industrially in the dewaxing process to lower the sohdification point of lubricants and in reforming processes to obtain high-octane gasolines (M Forming process) [3].

Cyclic reforming units often operate at pressure intermediate between SR and continuously regenerative reforming. An additional reactor is used, replacing one of the primary reactors in the process flow, whereas the primary reactor is being regenerated. Cycle lengths for a particular reactor can vary between 4 days and 1 month.
