Current compliance, potentiostat

In both types of experiments, the potentiostat must have an adequate power reserve. It has to be able to supply the necessary currents (even if they are demanded only momentarily), and it must be able to force those currents through the cell. In high-current situations, the output voltage of the potentiostat is mostly dropped across the solution resistance Rq, + and the requirement can easily exceed 100 V. The limits of delivery of the potentiostat are sometimes called the current compliance and the voltage compliance. The power reserve is the product of the two compliances. [Pg.646]

Compliance limits — The maximum - current or -> voltage a - potentiostat or - galvanostat can supply between the -> working-electrode and the - counter electrode. [Pg.106]

The data acquisition system and bipotentiostat/galvanostat of the CH series 900 SECM are microprocessor based and communicate with the PC controller via a serial data link. The bipotentiostat/galvanostat is suitable for analytical voltammetry with tip and substrate potentials up to 10 V and a compliance voltage of 12 V and potentiostat rise time of 0.6 ps. The current measurement sensitivity is in the pA range (resolution <0.01 pA). Adjustable second-order Bessel filters provide noise reduction and prevent aliasing by the ADC, which has at least 16 bits of resolution. The software for the model series 900 SECM runs on the Windows operating system and provides... [Pg.17]
