Cupriammonium hydroxide

The e.s.r. spectra of cupriethylenediamine dihydroxide and cupriammonium hydroxide complexes of cellulose, hydrocellulose, and other carbohydrates have been measured at ambient and low temperatures. It appears that complexation is chemical rather than physical, with the covalent character of the copper ligand being comparatively weaker in the complexes. A strong bond is formed between the copper atom and the vicinal 2,3-diol group of D-glucopyranosyl residues.
