Crushers and grinders

The use of more efficient technologies or process changes can reduce PIC emissions. Advanced coal combustion technologies such as coal gasification and fiuidized-bed combustion are examples of cleaner processes that may lower PICs by approximately 10%. Enclosed coal crushers and grinders emit lower PM.

FEED CONTROL. Of the operations auxiliary to the size reduction itself, control of the feed to the mill is the most important. The particles in the feed must be of appropriate size. Obviously they must not be so large that they cannot be broken by the mill if too many of the particles are very fine, the effectiveness of many machines, especially intermediate crushers and grinders, is seriously reduced. With some solids precompression or chilling of the feed before it enters the mill greatly increases the ease with which it can be ground. In continuous mills the feed rate roust be controlled within close limits to avoid choking or erratic variations in... 

List of machineries which need high starting torque (e.g. crushers and grinders, stirred tank reactors where agitators may need heavy starting power, loaded conveyer belt drives, hoists, etc.) These machines may have to be provided with gear boxes, belt drives, and variable-frequency drive motors.
