Critical connectors

Stress Relaxation. Copper alloys are used extensively in appHcations where they are subjected to moderately elevated temperatures while under load. An important example is the spring member for contacts in electrical and electronic coimectors. Critical to rehable performance is the maintenance of adequate contact force, or stabiUty, while in service. Excessive decrease in this force to below a minimum threshold value because of losses in spring property can lead to premature open-circuit failure (see Electrical connectors). [Pg.225]

Normal liquid chromatographs use small bore one-sixteenth-in. tubing (<0.25 mm i.d.), special connectors, minimum tube lengths, and detectors with volumes around 8 to 12 p.L. For the low flow situations described earlier, the i.d. of the tubing is more critical and special detectors may be required in the paper mentioned above,50 the column was connected directly to the injection valve and the detector, thus eliminating all extracolumn tubing. [Pg.256]

Proper installation of membrane modules into a pressure vessel is critical. The membrane modules are guided into the pressure vessel in series. Membranes should be loaded into pressure vessel in the direction of flow. That is, the concentrate end of the module (the end without the brine seal) is inserted first into the pressure vessel. The brine seal and O-rings on the module inter-connectors can be... [Pg.107]

As pointed out in Sect. 1, the role of connector molecules in reinforcing interfaces between glassy polymers is to increase the maximum stress that can be sustained by the interface before failure. If the stress becomes higher than a certain critical level (which depends on the nature of the bulk polymers on either side of the interface), mechanisms leading to plastic deformation on a scale much larger than the molecular radius of gyration will be activated and the fracture toughness of the interface will increase dramatically. The main questions are ... [Pg.68]

To obtain an upper limit for Q0 Oprii is set equal to the failure stress Ojlhrij = Z-efffl, of the continuum fibril structure which gives a failure criterion for the critical crack opening displacement <5 = Sc at the crack tip. Here Z(, is the number of effective connector strands per nominal unit craze area can be less than Z due to the scission of chains during formation of the craze fibrils. [Pg.88]

Fluoropolymers are used to insulate wire for critical aerospace and industrial applications where chemical and thermal resistance is essential. They are also materials of construction for connectors for high-frequency cables and for thermocouple wiring that must resist high temperatures. [Pg.6]

One of the fastest growing market segments is that of electronics. The critical performance criteria for PAB s in electronic connectors can be summarized as follows dimensional stability high heat resistance high flow low flash solvent resistance IR solderable flame retardancy... [Pg.966]

The choice of the outer diameter of the tubing is not critical. It is advantageous when commercially available Swagelok or Parker connectors fit the tubing [O.D. [Pg.82]
