Course design decisions

Profit III tries to match the EBT level not considering taxes on a tactical value chain planning level, taxes are not decision-relevant for a global value chain strategy and network design decisions, taxes are of course an important parameter to consider when deciding on sites and locations in the value chain network... 

Major design decisions to be taken in the course of the design may require special independent design reviews by the operating organization which are limited to the scope of the decision to be taken, and which may consider compliance with the safety requirements applicable to the matter to be decided. 

The modular design integrates, as far as possible, existing software from member states, to permit the free distribution of the package. Version 1.0 of PSAPACK was used in a IAEA international training course on PSA in safety decisions (1988). Since then, PSAPACK evolved in response to users requirements, and has been widely distributed. 

These drawings first and foremost represent states. The same kind of drawing can be used to represent specific implementations of a state. For example, we could decide that each link represents a row in a relation in a relational database or they might be pointers in main memory or they might be rows in a chart at the hotel s front desk. But at the start of a design the most useful way is to say that we don t care yet we re interested in describing the states and not the detail of how they re implemented. We will make the less important representation decisions in due course as the design proceeds. 

Should we explore all reasonable design alternatives How sophisticated should our analysis be What simplifying assumptions should we make What shortcuts should we take Which factors should we ignore and which should we consider And how should the reliability and completeness of the data at hand influence our decisions Good engineering judgment, which only comes with experience, will suggest the appropriate course of action.
