Research has shown that in some cases, the corrosion rate of steel in soil increases with the decrease in SRB numbers, confirming anomalies such as getting high numbers of SRB in locations with no corrosion or high corrosion rates of mild steel where the SRB numbers have been low, as reported earlier by investigators regarding the link between the number of SRB and observed corrosion rates. [Pg.68]
