Corrosion experimental strategy

The energetics and stability of a semicondnctor/liqnid interface are strongly influenced by the electrochemical properties of the redox conple dissolved in the solution. In this section, the basic principles involved in charge transfer at photoelectrochemical junctions are defined and discussed. In addition, experimental strategies that focus on the specific chemical nature of the dissolved redox couple for inhibiting semiconductor oxidation and corrosion are described. [Pg.539]

In this chapter, we will review the fundamental models that we developed to predict cathode carbon-support corrosion induced by local H2 starvation and start-stop in a PEM fuel cell, and show how we used them to understand experiments and provide guidelines for developing strategies to mitigate carbon corrosion. We will discuss the kinetic model,12 coupled kinetic and transport model,14 and pseudo-capacitance model15 sequentially in the three sections that follow. Given the measured electrode kinetics for the electrochemical reactions appearing in Fig. 1, we will describe a model, compare the model results with available experimental data, and then present... [Pg.48]

Nevertheless, numerous materials tests under SCWO conditions (typically in the form of coupons or a flow tube) and analyses of failures performed over the years have contributed to improved strategies for corrosion niiiigalioii. This experimental data, coupled with existing Pourbaix diagram data at lower temperatures (e.g., 300°C), can provide rough guidance to operating conditions that... [Pg.415]

The simple experimental and product isolation procedures combined with ease of recovery and reuse of this novel reaction media contribute to the development of green strategy for the preparation of isoxazolidines. Furthermore, the use of [bmim] [PFg] solvent system for this transformation avoids the use of toxic or corrosive reagents and high temperature reaction conditions, and thus, it provides convenient procedure to carry out the reactions at ambient temperature. [Pg.297]
