Cordeau detonant cord

Detonating cords contain high explosives and are used to detonate high explosive charges from a safe distance. The first detonating cord syn. detonating fuse was the Cordeau detonant cord, a lead tube filled with a TNT core... [Pg.121]

Harle (Cordeau detonant de mine 5 la tolite). A French detonating cord used in mining. It consists of a TNT (core) enclosed in a lead tubing of 5.9 mm external diam. Its-detonation velocity is 5055 to 5165 m/sec... [Pg.13]

Miccia detonante - Detonating Cord or Cordeau. These may have cores of compressed PA (Picric Acid) - deton vel 5000m/s core of TNT -deton vel 4500m/s fuse of PETN prepd by a special method and MF (Mercuric Fulminate) fuse prepd by a special method (Ref 31, p 528)... [Pg.426]

Eclair. A French detonating cord ("cordeau detonant ), consisting of a 5mm diam core of PETN (9.9g per meter) and two white threads serving as pilots. The core is covered with a thin cellulosic film and fabric. Its external diam is 5.5mm and detonation rate 6355 to 6745m/sec. Earlier French cords are listed in Encycl, Vol 3, p C530-L Refs 1) A. LeRoux, MP 32, 203-04(1950)... [Pg.648]

Detonating Cord(Cordeau detonant) (Matagne plant of SAPRB)... [Pg.30]

An early French Detonating Cord (called Cordeau detonant, module 1902) consisted of a tin tube filled with a PA core. The external diam of tube was 5.4 mm and the vel of deton of the cord was 6690 6745 m/sec. About 1907 L. Lheure of France introduced commercial Cordeau. It consisted of a lead tube filled with TNT or Tetryl. [Pg.313]

A Hexanitromannite Cordeau, proposed by Sebert Fritsch to the Poudrerie a Sevran-Livry, developed a vel of deton of 7000 m/sec, but was considered too expensive too sensitive for coml use (Refs 3 5) More recently the SA D Explosifs et de Produits Chimiques manufd a Cordeau consisting of flat hollow Pb bands filled with Tetryl. It is claimed that flat Cordeau is easier to introduce into a bore-hole than round Cordeau. Other models of Fr Detonating Cords employing a PETN core a fabric cover are called Cortex, OD 4.8mm, gms of expl/m 8 vel of deton 5990-6410 m/sec and Eclair, OD 5.5 mm, gms of expl/m 11 vel of deton 6355-6745 m/sec. Cordeau Maissin.Maissin, in 1888, patented in France the use of granulated NC as a core of flexible detonating cord (cordeau detonant souple in Fr ),which was prepd in the same manner as the safety fuse of Bickford (See Vol 2, p B112-L of this Encycl). This cord was examined by CSE (Commission des Substances Explosives) and found to be satisfactory from the point of view of performance (Ref 2) (See also Refs 3 5)... [Pg.314]
