Copper tetranuclear structures

Despite its tetranuclear structure in the solid state, the dicopper(II) complex was found to dissociate in solution into dinuclear units at the concentration levels used for catecholase activity studies. Similarly to the copper(II) complex with the ligand [22]py4pz, the present complex also catalyzes the oxidation of the model substrate DTBCH2 in methanol. However, several unexpected observations have been made in the present case. First, the rate-determining step in the catalytic reaction was found to change with the substrate-to-complex ratio. Thus, at low substrate-to-... [Pg.120]

In a similar vein, self-assembly of the dimethyl derivative of the corresponding tris(bipyridine) ligand in the presence of bipyrimidine and copper(I) spontaneously generates the new ladder structure 49. A similar tetranuclear structure derived from the corresponding bis(bipyridine) ligand has also been reported. [Pg.211]

A novel tetranuclear structure is exhibited by the mixed ligand complex [Cu4(/Lt-0Me)4(/Li,)7 -02CMe)4]. The four copper atoms in a plane are alternately double bridged by /tt-OMe and tx, i7 -02CMe ligands, and the molecule exhibits strong antiferromagnetic behaviour." ... [Pg.330]

Encapsulated Cu—chlorophthalocyanines oxidize hexane at C-l using 02 and at C-2 using H202 as oxidants. The dimeric structure of copper acetate is intact when it is incorporated into the zeolite. This is a regioselective aromatic hydroxylation catalyst, which mimics the specificity of the monooxygenase enzyme tyrosinase.82,89 Zeolite NaY catalysts made with a tetranuclear Cu(II) complex were synthesized and characterized.90... [Pg.253]

A new representative of a multicopper cluster in a protein is Cuz in nitrous oxide reductase. As was discussed above this enzyme contains a binuclear CuA centre as in COX. While the latter in addition has CuB in the form of a copper-heme group, N20 reductase has Cuz which is the site of dinitrogen formation from the substrate N20. Recently a central inorganic sulfide has been found as a ligand to copper and multiple forms of Cuz were detected in the enzyme from Paracoccus pantotrophus.134 More recently a tetranuclear copper cluster with X-S bridges was proposed as structure for Cuz..135... [Pg.133]

Involvement of two nucleophilic nitrogen atoms is thus typical for the amino heterocycles. The mutual disposition of the pyridine and amine nitrogen atoms allows the formation of chelate structures for the cobalt complexes of purine, 221 and 222. Structures with the N, iV -five-membered metal cycles were proven for the tri- and tetranuclear complexes of silver ) with 8-aminoquinoline (223) (92IC4370), and polymeric copper- and rhodium-acetate clusters (224). Another coordination mode can be found in the complexes of 4-amino-3,5-bis(pyridin-2-yl)-l,2,4-triazole, (225 or... [Pg.38]

The tetrahedral CiuXt is the most common tetranuclear copper(I) species and primarily occurs (Figure 4.4, v) as the cubane structure Cu4X4L4, where X is Cl-, Br- pr I- and L is a... [Pg.558]
