Copper chloride with hydrazones

Metal-Complex (Formazan) Dyes. The hydrazone from 2-carboxyphenylhydra-zine-4-sulfonic acid and benzaldehyde is suspended in water and then dissolved by adding aqueous sodium hydroxide to obtain pH 6.5 -7.0. This solution is added to the aqueous diazonium salt solution obtained from a typical aqueous diazotiza-tion of 4-(2-sulfooxyethylsulfonyl)-2-aminophenyl-6-sulfonic acid. The mixture is then dripped into an aqueous solution of copper sulfate, while the pH is maintained with soda at 5.5 - 6.5. After complete coupling the pH is adjusted to 1 with concentrated hydrochloric acid. The strongly acidic solution is then neutralized with alkali to pH 5.5. The copper - formazan complex is salted out along with sodium chloride, filtered, washed with dilute aqueous sodium chloride solution, and dried. A dark powder results which gives a dark blue solution in water. It consists of an electrolyte-containing powdered sodium salt of the acid 25 ... 

The synthesis of tazobactam from 6-APA (Scheme 6.15) proceeded via the 2- -(chloromethyl)penam ester (81 a), which was first prepared by Gottstein and co-workers [47] during the synthesis of 2-/S-(chloromethyl)-2-a-methylpenam-3a-carboxylic acid 1,1-dioxide (29). 6-APA (8) was converted to 6a-bromopenicillanic acid (77) by treatment with sodium nitrite and hydrobromic acid. Oxidation with peracetic acid in the presence of benzophenone hydrazone gave benzhydryl 6a-bromopenicillanate-l-oxide (78) and reduction with zinc and acetic acid gave benzhydryl penicillanate-1-oxide (79). Several new syntheses of vinylsilanes have been described. Tris(trimethyl-silyl)aluminium undergoes 5yn-addition to alkynes alternatively the same -isomers can be obtained by photochemical isomerisation of Z-1-alkenyl-silanes. Other methods described involve treatment of the lithium salts of hydrazones with trimethylsilyl chloride, Wurtz-type coupling with vinyl bromides, and reaction of acetylenes with a silyl-copper reagent followed by an electrophile.
